Damien Hirst’s for the love of god is about as timeless as his own career and not so uplifting as was first thought. On reflection now the work is already rather depressing and was nothing more than an unsurprising attempt to grab headlines and raise his personal profile, in what is an ever increasing crass contemporary art world full of increasingly decadent meaningless minimalist conceptual art works. He is a good business man, capitalist and con artist. Hopefully the hype surrounding this piece won’t last beyond the period that the Aztec civilisation lasted! As the work is neither ancient or stood the test of any time it hopefully will never be positioned in the British Museum. Whoever buys for the love of god has got to be the biggest most complete mug ever!
